The longer version would be “do what you usually do.”
The big audition called Uh… Kumiwake…? More or less the “Class Selection Audition” ( :V ) is just around the corner and Yume must continue to work hard in order to pass, and be in the same class/group as her beloved S4 member Shiratori Hime. Unfortunately for Yume, things aren’t going well as she had hoped.
The pacing still continues to impress me and they packed each minute with character development it felt like I’m watching an anime that’s designed to have 24 episodes.
Yume is having trouble controlling her voice like she couldn’t get the tone right and she easily loses her breath. She’s so paranoid about it, she even voiced her concern to Rola that she may not be able to pass and fail to join the singing class. However she stopped moping around and continued her training.
Yume ran up to an elevated viewing platform to practice her voice. There she encounters S4 member Hoshim—Kisiragi Tsubasa who also went up to the platform to practice her acting. During their meeting, Yume expressed her problem with Tsubasa and the both exchanged stories like Tsubasa originally wanted to be in the singing class.
We get a lengthy background story of Tsubasa’s early years and how she ended up in the acting class. It was a very good flashback showing Tsubasa’s insecurities and how student and teacher relationship started.
Yume got a bit of encouragement and continue on with her training. At ground level, Yume bumps into Subaru. Miraculously Subaru actually gave legit advice to Yume and the two parted ways.
There’s clearly a third girl, but she’s too boring to be posted here.
The “HaruFes Ichinensei Kumiwake Audition” is finally here and everyone is showing what they have learned. Obviously the audition “ended” with Yume doing a dance number.
I do like the song but it feels repetitive after hearing it three times in a row. But whatever.
Anna announces the students who passed the audition and… there’s nothing else to talk about because all of the girls, including that purple-haired girl on the right, passed. S4 also complimented Yume is improving.
And finally the boys showed up. They’re M4… really? “M4”? Male 4? Masculine 4? Man 4? :V
Anyway, it is revealed that Subaru is part of a popular boy band/group M4 and to Subaru’s dismay, Yume didn’t have a clue he’s one of the top idols in school… But seriously, they look generic as fuck with samey faces and samey hair style. Kinda reminds me of that boy band who look like Justine Beiber clones. One Direction, was it?
I mean, compare the character design of M4 to S4 and you immediately notice M4’s character designs are so generic. So generic in fact it made my eyes bleed, or the character designer didn’t give a shit.
And they’re stereotypes as far as I can tell. There’s the smart one with glasses (reminds of Mega-Nii from PriPara), the baby-face short guy, the stud, and the smart ass. Hell, the members of Suzukawa Naoto’s group “More Than True” had more visually distinct character designs.
Aside from the generic male characters, episode 03 was very good and it’s nice they immediately gave S4’s Tsubasa a character development, and gave Yume the chance to interact with Tsubasa in private with no distractions.
I apologize for any mistranslation or substitution of terms used. I really need to familiar myself with the names of the types of classes and other terminologies.
