I think this will be a half-assed review mainly for three things:
- I barely understood the episode
- The animation quality was terrible
- No green screen in the age of holographic performances
So yeah, consider this a disclaimer of sort.
I think I was wrong. The Aikatsu! Island event has yet to happen in the anime. Meaning we won’t be seeing Rola and Yume walking around school wearing their matching bracelets/necklaces for a while. Uh, spoiler?
Anyway, Yume and Koharu were just in time to watch the daily S4 TV episode… which is funny because the S4 episode lasts about a few seconds. S4 is working on a movie and Tsubasa will be the main star. Excited for the movie, Yume decided to sneak in the studio to watch her favorite idols do their acting work. Wait, what?
Yeah, that’s right and for some reason they managed to enter the studio without getting spotted. I guess the studio didn’t have that tight security DreAca has. The girls were immediately spotted by Tsubasa and instead of sending them back to the school, she instead let the girls watch how filming works.
To add some spice into the story, we are introduced to Tsubasa’s supporting character whose name I forgot at the moment. This gentleman is famous for his bombastic performances and stunts (as far as I know), and aside from the fact he wears the same coat, we soon found that he lost that fire, that passion he had when he was young. I dunno, maybe he’s getting too old for this?
The two eventually butt heads (not buttheads) regarding on how to handle a dangerous stunt at the end. Tsubasa eventually volunteered to perform a stunt she was never trained for.
Overall it’s a good episode focusing more on Tsubasa and the challenges she faced in making this film.
NOTABLE THINGS TO POINT OUT
Animation was horrible. Here’s a pro-tip for you: If an episode is very well animated, the next episode will most likely be poorly animated. Case in point.
Unless that’s a CTS-V, there is no way a sedan can catch up to a Cayman.
Yume wears a semi-transparent skirt with shorts underneath.
Rola’s attire made her bust size a cup larger.
Same for Koharu. Hmmm…
Koharu is reading something.
“Fry, fry, fry!!!”
No green screen. Not sure what era they live in, but they could have used CGI to film this dangerous stunt. Or better yet use their holographic technology to, you know, NOT FORCE TSUBASA TO JUMP AND RISK HER LIFE.
But then again, the story would be less dramatic.
